Description

Name: Drakia
Aliases: the Queen of the Jungle, the Maternal Skull, the Deathly Claws, Kuku-kukunya dari Atas (the 'Talons from Above'), Suara yang dari Pepohonan (the 'Voice from the Trees')
Faction: Rogue
Alignment: True Neutral
Kaiju Rank: 3

Stats:
Height: 15 meters (all fours) / 30 meters (fully reared)
Length: 65 meters
Weight: 12,000 tons

Powers:

Fangs of Oblivion : Drakia's predatory skull is filled with sharp, flat teeth and two large saber fangs. She has a very mean bite, and the skill and stealth to back her fangs. The pale skull-shaped pattern across her head is the last thing many prey animals and intruders to her islands have witnessed before their demise.

Cruel Talons : Each of Drakia's long, muscular limbs is armed with three wickedly sharp talons. These murderous meat-hooks are supreme killing tools, long and sharp enough to damage any foe. Drakia's claws are quite dexterous, her digits capable of twisting and curling in almost any way to maximized their cutting capability.

Athlete's Legs : The hind limbs of Drakia are long and powerful, like the legs of a big cat. Ignoring the sharp talons they possess, these dangerous legs can also deliver devastating kicks. Blows from these legs are easily able to split flesh, crater armor, and crack scales. The back of Drakia's legs are also spurred by one sturdy spike each.

Weaponized Tail Tip : Most of Drakia's elongated length is tail. This long, thin tail is a potent weapon, capable of cracking and lashing like a kaiju-sized bullwhip. The tail is tipped with a bladed arrowhead that can hack or stab into foes like a tethered dart.

Huntress Sails : Fanning out from Drakia's back and tail are two sets of webbed spines. These sails have multiple uses. They are capable of whipping out to frighten animalistic foes with their crimson membrane. Additionally, each spine is razor-edged and capable of cutting into foes as Drakia bounds and twirls. But the greatest use of these sails is Drakia's signature ability- gliding. Drakia is more a creature of the sky than land. She can soar in long bounds and leaps, and spends most of her times in the monstrous tress produced by her unique ecosystem. The greatest recorded distance the reptile was drifted is nearly a mile, and its is suspected she might be able to glide even further. She is assisted to stay afloat by her sails, a very light frame, a thin 'hood' of flattened skin on her side, and the occasional fierce lashing of her tail, like a crocodile of the air.

Potent Slobber : Drakia's jaws and saliva are laced with venom. This mild toxin is much like that of a monitor lizard or Gila monster- it thins the blood and ensures continual bleeding. To better fit the more monstrous targets of her offense, Drakia's venom also counterparts healing abilities some, slowing the healing process of even the fastest of regenerative giants. This venom is not meant to kill on its own, but rather to weaken victim and leave them vulnerable to Drakia's claws and teeth. Drakia can even spray this venom directly from her fangs, creating golden clouds that can blind temporarily or irritate the throat and nostrils.

Jungle Fitness : Drakia is a very quick, agile beast. She has to be to survive in her super-sized homeland. She can run as fast as a kaiju-class cheetah, turn on a dime, leap hundreds of meters into the air, and scale trees many times her height in mere seconds. She is a fit and precise predator, capable of silent stalking or explosive bursts of violence. Though she may be considered small and fragile by some standards, she is by no means a creature weak.

Weaknesses:

Weak of Body : Drakia, although quite the athletic huntress, is rather fragile. In order to sustain pseudo-flight by means of her sails, she must be very light, practically a featherweight. This means she cannot endure many powerful blows and must rely on her speed and agility over durability.

Natural Healer : Although even average and lesser kaiju have enhanced healing abilities, Drakia possesses no regenerative traits at all. It is theorized this is because her mutation was solely natural. She heals at the rate of any normal creature, and must be careful not to sustain any crippling or mortal injuries.

Personality:

Drakia is a lone creature. She holds a natural distrust of all beings she comes across, and a primordial hatred of all who trespass on her island territory. While other monsters feel a need to destroy or preserve Mankind or the balance of the world, Drakia is content to keep to herself. She doesn't care if the world prospers or burns, she'll simple adapt and survive no matter the circumstances. She is like self-preservation in flesh form, a true triumph of nature. Although she mostly cares for herself, there is one other thing that demands her concern- young creatures. For unknown reasons, Drakia possessed an intense maternal instinct. She has no young of her own, but her urge to protect extends to the young of others. Any child of any species in danger becomes Drakia's business, and she will fight viciously, tooth-and-nail, to the death to protect them. This motherly streak is the only aspect of Drakia that surpasses her will to survive. Drakia is a tactical beast. She does not simply rush threats head-on and recklessly endanger her life. She attacks from above, a creature of the trees and skies, or from behind, or from any number of unexpected angles. She is a thinking creature, and her thoughts come swiftly and furiously. She can react and plan instantaneously, an active fighter that quickly realizes and adapts to different situations. Birthed by mutation and hardened by the wilderness, Drakia is a speedy thing of feist and thought, a true survivor under any circumstance and a fierce enemy to all that wish to harm her.

History:

With monsters, aliens, and demons rising all over the globe, the planet itself seem to react in some way, as if the balance of life had been thrown off. In one such instance of a more violent reaction, a few Indonesian islands began going through a process that scientists would quickly label 'kaijufication.' As if to defend against the emerging giants, the ecosystems of these islands began growing in size. This rapid process was separate from Enigma mutation or the results from being exposed to Fafnir's blood, more like evolution on fast forward than anything else. Both plant and animal life increased in girth- frogs became the size of dogs, trees rivaled skyscrapers in height, snakes grew to the size and ferocity of size of sharks, bird the size of small planes, and fish as big as boats. The wildlife went through radical changes in behavior as well. Non-carnivorous plants began feeding on animals with grasping vines and closing traps. Predatory creatures developed exaggerated weapons and primitive oral projectile attack, while herbivores gained armor and spikes. It was like the whole of several islands was changing to become a land of kaiju. Giants were produced alarmingly fast, none as large or extraordinary as true kaiju, but they could not be far from reaching that point.

Then, it stopped.

The giants seem to die out. The wildlife stopped growing. The trees ceased piercing the heavens. The kaijufication sputtered to a halt. And no one knew why. Before long, carcasses were found. They were of the true giants from the forest, titans that had seemingly gone into hiding. And they were dead, their meat actually devoured by something larger. The way they were found was also suspicious. They were clearly dragged from the juggles, sometimes even thrown into the sea, like they were no longer wanted. It was obvious that a predator of massive proportions was at work. Bodies like these were found for months afterwords, yet the perpetrator remained completely anonymous for just as long.

Until she came flying from the canopy.

Sightings poured in, from boats and planes and researchers, about a fully fledged kaiju gliding from island to island on large webbed sails. This reptilian giant was dubbed 'Drakia', after a tree dragon of local lore. The lithe huntress disappeared again only hours after being seen, but she still leaves behind signs of her presence- more consumed bodies, toppled trees, even the occasional breach of the canopy. She was there, and she ruled. The kaijufication had stopped- Drakia herself the 'equalizer' that halted the area's growth- but the islands were still left with an oversized rainforest for the lizard to dwell in. Prowling the trees and sky like an arboreal crocodile, the slim huntress is rarely seen, but universally known. Her presence is everywhere. In the treetops, in the rivers, in the clouds, in the dark of the night, her yellow cat-like gaze always on those who intruded upon her domain. Many people went missing in the jungle. None of them were found. The message was clear- Drakia was not a nosy beast, and she did not appreciate nosing around in her land either.

As of late, something seems to be riling her up. She's been going mad and leveling forest in angry fits. Her distinctive yowl tears across the jungle often, and in increasing volume. Something is disturbing Drakia. No one knows what.

Yet.

Important Dates:

April, 20X0 - Multiple islands in Indonesia show signs of 'kaijufication', a natural mutative process in which wildlife and plant life begin increasing in size and strength.

December, 20X0 - The now super-sized Indonesian islands cease producing oversized creation for unknown reason. The carcasses of several of these beasts are found discard just outside the treeline or in the ocean. The appear to be partially eaten. These types of discoveries would continue.

January 24th, 20X1- Drakia reveals herself in Indonesia while gliding from island to island. It is deduced that she is what caused the cease in giant creature production.

May, 20X1 - Drakia begins exhibiting agitated behavior. The cause is unknown.

Here she is, my first and still favorite creation- Drakia!

Design-wise, a few big things changed. A gave her a second set of sails for one, and also a more serpentine build, longer legs, and a flying gecko-like flap along her side. Colors are another notable change, sorta reversed her usual scheme of dark stripes on light hide. I like it, looks very exotic and threatening. And that skull-like head! A true thing of terror to see hurtling at you with mouth open.

Personality-wise, not a big shift from her standard New World version, although with an extended maternal instinct. That's actually a trait migrated over from Ardia, which in turn was created in interactions with ~LimboWoods. Bit of a funny evolution there actually, if you ask me.

So, the two monsters I mainly wanted in KAS are done then, and two more are on their way- Fenris and Quetzar. Fenris will be slightly redesigned to further her from ~TyrantisTerror's Cerberus and Quets will receive a major reworking and be dubbed 'Shunzar.' Should be fun!

Also, considering giving Drakia's little multi-island patch of giant forest its own page (and also hoping that it's not stepping on anyone's toes). Thoughts?
