Description

The hulking insect-human hybrid, Colterus

Height: 125 meters
Length: 130 meters
Mass: 110,000 tons
Rank: 5

Description:
Although Colterus was once human, the mindless nature of his insect side has taken over his consciousness, making him a savage beast without though or moral. It seems that his human consciousness tries to fight back, meaning that he bestial side must beat it back. This means Colterus is constantly enraged, in an eternal frenzy to keep his mind thoughtless and dull. Bits of his previous identity will occasionally slip through though, in the form of either intelligence or mercy. This makes the bug somewhat unpredictable. It's been found things that Gardner loved in his time as a human, such as music, can bring some of him out from Colterus, but it can a a dangerous game of chance to try this. In an attempt to escape Giant's Gate One, this will either cause him to back down quietly or quickly think up a better tactic than to simply charge the electrified fence.

Colterus's blood is a foul yellow color, just like his acid saliva.

Powers:
-Edge Arms: Colterus has two jagged, scythe-like limbs, used to hack and stab foes like ragged swords; capable of mulching flesh from bone like a 'straight grinder' or slicing cleanly with its razor-edge
-Jagged Edges: Colterus is generally very spiny in outline; he has sharp, serrated claws capable of clean cuts and strong, blunt spikes used to gore foes like rhinoceros horns
-Acidic Drool: Colterus oozes a deadly acid from his mouth; he can launch this corrosive saliva in sticky blobs that cling to flesh, or in more forceful sprays that cover in a burning mist; not solely fired form his mouth however, as there are three 'acid launcher' on each side of his chest- sloping tubes that attach to Colterus's windpipe
-Stinger: Colterus's razor-lined tail ends in a crimson stinger that injects extremely painful venom; this toxin is not lethal by any means, but causes large welts, flesh deterioration, sickness, and even partial blindness; this toxin is also injected by the three serrated barbs on each of his arms
-Insectoid Armor: the majority of Colterus's hulking form is protected by almost impenetrable armor; this protective coat is flexible without sacrificing strength due to its overlapping and loose nature; a 'helmet' portion of this armor can be flipped down over Colterus's head, complete with purple eyespots and horn-like spikes
-Bug Brawn: Colterus is a tremendously strong creature, a heavyweight lifter for even a monster of his size; even his secondary arms can hurl foes back like playthings
-Hot Streaks: Colterus's wings are not used for flight- his bulk impossible to make airborne for anything but augmented leaps- but they can rapidly rub together to create a stream of superheated air; this narrow, focused heatwave can be fired from any angle and direction, making it an extremely unpredictable attack; luckily, it tends to be one of the lesser in Colterus's arsenal; additionally, the narrow, jagged wing cases folded into Colterus's spiny back can be flicked out and used as cutting weapons; these bladed wing cases can even be heated by the rapid motion of the wings
-Hints of Human: sometimes, an almost human intellect will surface through Colterus's muddled instincts, letting him show shocking cunning and tactic

Weakness:
-Rather slow reflexes and movements; weighed down by his sheer size and weight
-Very stupid in his standard mental state
-The 'acid launchers' are connected to the insect monstrosity's windpipe; projectile attacks that squeeze down these small openings can ravage in bug's innards
-Professor Gardener will occasional wrench control from the insect side of his new form; these literal attacks of consciousness often lead to the great bug's defeat; mainly happens when people or good-willed kaiju are at Colterus's mercy

Bio:
Professor Sampson Gardener was once a great scientist, trying to hybridize different species to make them stronger. This secret and ambitious project was based in Washington D.C. But the Professor and his assistant, Sidney "Sid" Reed, got into a spirited disagreement about the way the test animals were treated. Sid believed it was cruel and that they should be kept in better conditions, while the Professor argued it was a necessary evil. During the debate, something went wrong. They had left an experimental machine meant to mix DNA unattended, letting it become unstable. They realized their mistake, but it was too late. The machine exploded, destroying the whole lab. But not Sid and the Professor. Instead of being killed in the blast, they were mutated, mixed with the very creatures they had been using from their project. Sid was mixed with a number of mammals and reptiles, and the Professor with insects- the Goliath beetle, staghorn, rove beetle, and grasshopper especially. The result was two monsters, huge and inhuman. But Sid still had his human consciousness. The Professor was not so lucky. Although he had become the bigger giant, he was now mindless and vicious. With a great shriek, the insectoid creature lashed out! It started to destroy the U.S. capital. With the creature- latter dubbed 'Colterus"- appearing from nowhere, no defenses could be launched before it leveled billions of dollars in property and killed countless innocents.

But Sid wouldn't let that happen.

The small kaiju attack Colterus, who was literally more than twice his size- bravely. While the odds seemed stacked against the reptile-mammal chimera, he fought with everything he had. Although Colterus was much bigger had had more destructive powers, he was actually having trouble with the tiny giant! And Sid wasn't letting up. Only empowered by the yells and cheers of the people watching the titanic clash, he battled on. Then disaster struck. With one blow, Colterus changed the tides of the battle, downing Sid violently. With the defender at his mercy, he prepared to end it. But he paused. The consciousness of Professor Gardener had temporarily wrestled control from his beastial side. And he was using this brief moment of dominance to save his former assistant and friend. Putting everything he had left into a nova beam, Sid defeated Colterus.

Colterus now lives in Giant's gate two. Although he is the largest and most aggressive monster there, Frenzy and the Sub-Titan wok together to keep him in line. It's hoped one day he can be returned to his human form.

When ice warriors attacked Giant's Gate One, Colterus was a major force in holding the mindless soldiers back, strength and size destroying their numbers. He had something of a team-up with Apex when he arrived to help, the two monstrosities trying to outcompete each other.

Lockjaw first appeared during a skirmish at Giant's Gate One. Colterus, who was again having a fit of anger and violence, was battling the Sub-Titan and Frenzy. Such fights were common, and the staff there knew how to handle it. But before they could intervene, a bizarre white beast bound over the electric gates and slammed into all three combatants, knocking them into a lake. As the trio of surprised monsters rose from the cold water, the strange new beast flashed a few bright, happy colors, gave an odd warbling laugh, and then sprinted off.

Background Information: Tailed version got the most votes, so tail it is! Not disappointed- as I said before, I'm really fond of his tail design.
